Houghton Wyton & Hemingford Angling Society
Membership and Day Tickets are available from Hemingford Village Stores and include the Club rules and a map of the areas that can be fished.
Are you aware that the above Angling Society has fishing rights to The Ouse around the large meadows between The Hemingfords and Houghton and Wyton?
Have you tried fishing on the river or taken your children or grandchildren fishing?
See the map below which shows where you can fish with an annual licence or a day ticket. The prices are very reasonable especially if you are a resident of one of the villages even if you only want to go a few times.
IMPORTANT All Fish must be returned to the area where they were caught
Environment Agency Fishing Licence
You will also need an Environment Agency Fishing Licence and you can buy a 1-day, 8-day or 12-month licence online. This licence allows you to fish all permitted Environment Agency Waterways, although you may still need to purchase a club ticket to fish particular stretches of river or canal.
Children under 12 don’t need a licence.
Licences for children aged between 12 and 16 are free.
See https://www.gov.uk/fishing-licences/buy-a-fishing-licence and related pages or by calling the Environment Agency (EA) on 0344 800 5386 between 8am and 8pm or in person at a Post Office.
The Meadows are farmed by the Stocker Brothers and the health of the farm animals is extremely important and as such permission is only given to the Club to fish these waters as long as all waste and fishing equipment is taken away following a fishing trip and the area left as you found it. The meadow grass is likely to be cut and access therefore much easier from July onwards.
Further information can be obtained from the Secretary for the Club Mr P. Cossey (Tel 07907-824374)
